Heritage Society’s Heritage Scaritage...

The Bay Area Heritage Society of Baytown will hold its annual Heritage Scaritage Festival today at the Republic of Texas Plaza Park, 5117 North Main in Baytown, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be delicious food, fun and entertainment for everyone! All of your favorite festival foods will be there˜barbecue, kettle corn, pork skins, sausage on a stick, turkey legs, nachos, snow cones and roasted corn. For arts and crafts lovers, vendors will be displaying and selling their wares of children‚s clothing; bags; handmade soaps and lotions; jewelry; plants and hanging baskets; western collectibles; crochet and knit items; bird feeders; wood and stone crafts; ponchos; blankets; kitchen items; note cards, calendars and magnets made from digital pictures enhanced to look like watercolor paintings; and more.

Talented students from Goose Creek will be providing entertainment throughout the day. You won't want to miss Highlands Junior School's performance of commercials at 3 p.m.

Pop/R&B star Bobby Soloman Smith and his dancers will perform at 3:30 p.m. Children activities will include an Indian tepee, face painting, pumpkin decorating and a cupcake walk. Don't miss watching the pumpkin pie eating contest at 12:30 p.m. or better yet come and compete to be the fastest pumpkin pie eater in town! Admission is free.

Kids are invited to wear their favorite Halloween costume and bring their trick-o-treat bags to the 31st Annual Halloween Carnival from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. today. This year the event will be held at the Baytown Community Center, located at 2407 Market Street, attractions include a Petting Zoo, pony Ride and Train Ride, which the youngsters are sure to enjoy. The Halloween Carnival will include a variety of food and beverages, face painting, prizes, surprises, candy and more. Costume contest for kids will begin at 11 a.m. to 12:30 pm. Admission for the carnival games is free. Admission to the Petting Zoo and Train Ride is $2 per person. Pictures in the “Pumpkin Patch” are also available for $2.

The Evolution Festival at Bergeron Park is today from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission is free. Fred Aguilar, the president of the civic association in west Baytown that coordinates the festival, said he expects more than 1,000 people to attend. Aguilar said the event started out as a garage sale, but changed into a full-blown festival. Aguilar said they have four local food vendors and lots of fun stuff for the kids, including a moonwalk, face painting and four bands. Ricky Basquez's hip-hop dancers and Joe Martinez's boxing club will perform.

Entertainment by the dance group B-Style will highlight a free Family Fall Festival from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. today at Best Buy, 4620 Garth Road. B-Style, which is from Our Promise for West Baytown, a United Way funded agency, will perform at noon.

The festival will include games, food and fun for the entire family, as well as information about agencies and programs funded by United Way of Baytown Area.
