Bill Lopa, World Series Artist...

Submitted by admin on Friday, October 28, 2005 - 22:35

An avid spots fan and die-hard Yankees fan, Bill Lopa chose to concentrate his art in what he loved and in a genre he found most challenging and enjoyable: kinetic impressionism. Working in acrylics, Bill Lopa uses a "splatter" technique where the colors are applied with a pallet knife. The use of bold colors and splatter technique captures the image and spirit of an athlete in motion.

Bill Lopa's artwork has been featured in art galleries across the country, including Markman Galleries, Las Vegas, Gallery Four , Garden State Art Plaza, NJ and many Field of Dreams, several "Hall-Of-Fame" memorabilia franchise stores, and many more. Even more special to Bill Lopa is that his paintings are collected by, and hang in the homes of the following: Muhammad Ali, Michael Jordan, Roger Clemens, Mark McGuire, Paul O'Neill, Mark Prior, George Steinbrenner, Kerry Wood, Yogi Berra, Nolan Ryan, Cal Ripken, Don Mattingly, Derek Jeter, Tiki Barber, Reggie Jackson, Barbara Sinatra, Diana Munson, Eleanor Gehrig, Julia Ruth and Danny Mantle, just to name a few.

Bill Lopa has annually exhibited and sold his works at John Hancock All-Star FanFest, the NFL Experience and the NFL Pro Bowl. He has been the official artist of Sports Nationals (2003-2005), the most popular sports memorabilia and sports art show in the US -- wherein his artwork appears on the official brochure and poster. Bill Lopa is the official artist of the Frank Sinatra Celebrity Invitational. Bill Lopa has been invited to paint live at ringside for various Fox and Showtime heavyweight championship fights in Las Vegas. Recently, Major League Baseball selected Bill Lopa to paint the official commemorative home plate at the 2004 World Series for the ceremonial first pitch at Fenway Park in Boston. Bill Lopa's artwork has also been used as an official tee-shirt for the 2004 American League Championship Series, which sold-out at Yankee Stadium.

Major League Baseball invited Bill Lopa to paint live at, and capture on canvas, the 2005 All-Star Game at Comerica Park in Detroit.
