JACKSONVILLE, FL -- Robert E. Lee High School was named in 1928. "I don't see anything wrong with the name," said Jordon Foster, a sophomore at Lee High School. "It doesn't bother me at all." Neither Foster nor her friend, sophomore Lydell Hill, knew Lee was a Confederate General. Lee led the fight for the South in the Civil War. "Now I think they should change that name," said Foster. Many history books and encyclopedias say Forrest was the First Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan. But some people say these men are just part of our nation's roots, our history. "They are men of courage, men of God, men you wanted to be like," said Dave Nelson, owner of Uncle Davey's Americana, a shop full of Civil War memorabilia. Nelson lives for the past. He says he started selling Confederate collectibles back in grade school in Richmond, Virginia. "The school names are great," said Nelson. "These are people our children should know about. They're great role models." Nelson says you can't believe all the history books because often the victor writes the history. "When you look at the authors, they were all northern authors," said Nelson. "They had an agenda, they were biased." Pastor George Harvey believes Forrest was active in the KKK, and he asked the Duval County School Board to consider changing the name of Forrest High School. The Committee says it's gathering information to present at next month's NAACP meeting. This is cache, read story here
