Submitted by admin on Monday, October 24, 2005 - 18:35

OWLS HEAD (Oct 24): More than 400 new and used items—from snow plows to Toyotas—will be offered for sale at the Owls Head Transportation Museum's annual Great Fall Auction Weekend on Saturday & Sunday, October 29-30.

A huge yard sale and auction preview will take place Saturday from 10 - 5pm. On Sunday, a Silent Auction will run from 8 am to 11 am. Live Auction bidding will start at 9:30 am.

The Great Fall Auction includes—among others—donations from local restaurants and inns, utility and service providers, retailers and crafts people, museums and cinemas, and operators of railroads, schooners, whale watches and ski resorts. Donated items include gift certificates for professional services, accomodations, dinners, lobster, heating oil, auto supplies, electronics, health club memberships, magazine subscriptions, household items and more.

Auction sponsor Fisher Engineering of Rockland has donated a snow plow and Minute Mount 2 system. The Auction includes several private donations made by members and friends of the Museum, including several automobiles as well as antiques, furniture, tools and collectibles.

Proceeds from the auction will be used to support Museum operations. Donations will be accepted through the day of the sale. All donations are tax deductible within the limits of the law.

The Museum is located three miles south of Rockland on Route 73, in Owls Head. There is plenty of free parking, and refreshments will be available. A current list of auction items is available online at www.owlshead.org. For more information call 207-594-4418.
