Bundle up as squaw winter is arriving...

Submitted by admin on Wednesday, October 26, 2005 - 19:35

Brrr... I think squaw winter is here. But I have no complaints — we have had a glorious summer and early fall. I am “shoveling” out the house getting ready for my open house and a visit from sister Margaret (Powell). She wanted to get here before the time change Sunday.

The annual docent appreciation luncheon was held at the home of Suzanne and Tom Landschoff in Carmel. After a lovely meal served in style using Suzanne's marvelous collection of china and vintage linens. (Believe it or not, she loves to iron these — nothing paper at her house) Sarah Carter from Noblesville spoke on the world of quilts. She showed how to date materials and quilts and styles of quilting. Suzanne shared some of her antique quilts. Docents were presented with their service stars.

The stated meeting of Mooresvil1e Eastern Star was held Wednesday with some of the officers dressed for Halloween. The next stated meeting will be Nov. 2, with initiation of a new member.

Pat McNeff of Brooklyn Christian Church called this week about their annual bazaar on Nov. 17. Chicken noodle lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and they have arranged for drive through service on the north side of the church. Vendors and church members will offer crafts throughout the day, and the annual smorgasbord supper starts at 4:30 p.m.

I hope you've marked your calendar for the East Middle School Artesian Craft show from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Nov. 12.

Also, there will be crafts at Fairfield Friends on Nov. 4, and at Mooresville Friends on Nov. 5. These should finish your holiday shopping and eating instead of cooking.

Call to worship Sunday was the singing of “Holy Spirit, Thou Art Welcome” by Pastor Sue Whitesel. Ministry in Music was a vocal solo by Ron Sigmund, “No Not One.” Pastor Sue spoke on “Comfort Zone”, and continued the five minutes-five people-five weeks-$5 program.

The kids club on Wednesday evenings is doing well, and these youngsters joined others last week for the hay ride and wiener roast. There were 31 in attendance, which is a record. Their fall party is from 6 to 7:30 p.m. today. Fellowship dinner, coordinated by Carolyn Kitchen, Mary Frances Breedlove, Debbie Cornelius, followed morning worship. Joyce Ringer was ill and not able to be present.

Monthly meeting for business followed. Membership of two new members was approved. Plans for holiday events were discussed. In November, the dinner and monthly meeting will be on the third Sunday.

Fingers are busy for the Nov. 5 bazaar with doors opening at 9 a.m. Hot lunch will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. There are several new items for this affair, so you all come.

Wright is a member of the Mooresville Friends Church. For more information about the church call (317) 831-2800, or visit the church at 50 N. Monroe St. in Mooresville.
